Renormalization Group and Field Theoretic Techniques for the Analysis of the Lindstedt Series

چکیده
The Lindstedt series were introduced in the XIX century in Astronomy to study perturbatively quasi-periodic motions in Celestial Mechanics. In Mathematical Physics, after getting the attention of Poincaré, who studied them widely by pursuing to all orders the analysis of Lindstedt and Newcomb, their use was somehow superseded by other methods usually referred to as KAM theory. Only recently, after Eliasson’s work, they have been reconsidered as a tool to prove KAM-type results, in a spirit close to that of the Renormalization Group in quantum field theory. Following this new approach we discuss here the use of the Lindstedt series in the context of some model problems, like the standard map and natural generalizations, with particular attention to the properties of analyticity in the perturbative parameter.

Scaling, Perturbative Renormalization and Analyticity for the Standard Map and Some Generalizations
We summarize some numerical works on the analyticity properties of the perturbative series (e. g. Lindstedt series) for some simple discrete-time hamiltonian systems like the so-called \standard map" and generalizations. We stress the relevance of our results for the development of a renormalization group picture based on perturbation theory.

In this paper, homotopy perturbation and modified Lindstedt-Poincare methods are employed for nonlinear free vibrational analysis of simply supported and double-clamped beams subjected to axial loads. Mid-plane stretching effect has also been accounted in the model. Galerkin's decomposition technique is implemented to convert the dimensionless equation of the motion to nonlinear ordinary differ...
متن کاملTime-Dependent Real-Space Renormalization Group Method
In this paper, using the tight-binding model, we extend the real-space renormalization group method to time-dependent Hamiltonians. We drive the time-dependent recursion relations for the renormalized tight-binding Hamiltonian by decimating selective sites of lattice iteratively. The formalism is then used for the calculation of the local density of electronic states for a one dimensional quant...

This paper consists in a unified exposition of methods and techniques of the renormalizationgroup approach to quantum field theory applied to classical mechanics, and in a review ofresults: (1) a proof of the KAM theorem, by studing the perturbative expansion (Lindstedtseries) for the formal solution of the equations of motion; (2) a proof of a conjecture byGallavotti about ...
متن کاملApplications of Field-Theoretic Renormalization Group Methods to Reaction-Diffusion Problems
We review the application of field-theoretic renormalization group (RG) methods to the study of fluctuations in reaction-diffusion problems. We first investigate the physical origin of universality in these systems, before comparing RG methods to other available analytic techniques, including exact solutions and Smoluchowski-type approximations. Starting from the microscopic reaction-diffusion ...
